Overview
Lumin Smart Panels manufactured after mid-2021 have a redesigned set of lights, switches, and ports on the side of the enclosure. This article explains how to interpret indicator lights on Lumin Smart Panels manufactured prior to and after the redesign. Though minor variations exist among different generations, the side of the enclosure of these units generally resemble the images below.
Gen 6 and Prior | Gen 7 |
Both the blue/Online light and the green/Network light give an indication of connection status. A solid blue/Online light indicates a general connection to the internet (the ability to ping Google). A solid green/Network light indicates a connection to Lumin servers.
Gen 7 Lumin Smart Panels also include a red Power indicator light for a total of three external LEDs.
Interpreting Various Indicator Light States
LED States | Explanation |
| The Lumin Smart Panel is successfully connected to the home's WiFi network. |
| This indicates that the Lumin Smart Panel is not receiving power or has experienced a hardware problem. Ensure that the circuit breaker providing power to Lumin is energized and operating properly. If this is the case, contact Lumin Customer Support. |
| This indicates that the Lumin Smart Panel is in Hotspot or Setup Mode. This is the mode the Lumin Smart Panel must be in to begin the setup process after initial installation and is the expected state when the Lumin Smart Panel is first turned on by the installer. If a Lumin Smart Panel displays two blinking lights after having been successfully connected, this is an indication that either the WiFi button (Gen 6.1 and prior) or Setup button (Gen 7 and later) has been pressed. This mode is for setup only as the Lumin Smart Panel cannot connect to the internet in this state. Post-installation, this mode can be exited by pressing and releasing the WiFi button/Setup button (depending on your Lumin Smart Panel) once more. In less than a minute, both lights should be solidly lit, indicating a connection to Lumin servers. During the connection process after pressing the button, lights may go off or blink. This is normal and should not be interrupted by another button press. |
| This indicates that the Lumin Smart Panel cannot connect to Lumin servers. The Lumin Smart Panel should reconnect once the problem is resolved. No action by the user is necessary. |
| This indicates that the Lumin Smart Panel is trying to connect to the network. If this persists for more than a minute, it may indicate an issue such as:

Resolving Connection Issues
If the network name or password has been changed, the Lumin Smart Panel will need to be reconfigured with the new network credentials. For more information, see:
A Lumin Smart Panel with connectivity issues can often be reset by means of a power cycle.
- Press the Power rocker switch to the O (off) position.
- Wait for a few seconds to pass.
- Press the Power rocker switch back to the I (on) position.
If the Lumin Smart Panel does not reconnect within approximately one minute, call Lumin Customer Support at 888-421-0616.
Note that users can still connect to and control Lumin during an internet outage. Ensure that the mobile device running the Lumin app is connected to the same WiFi network as the Lumin Smart Panel. Communication between the mobile device and the Lumin Smart Panel will occur on the wireless network, even when that network does not have a connection to the wider internet. For this reason, ensure that the router will be powered by the battery and not shed by Lumin during a grid outage.
