Manufacturer-specific battery integrations allow the Lumin Smart Panel to manage circuits according to the battery's state of charge. As the battery discharges below 50%* the Lumin Smart Panel will shed Optional Circuits to increase battery runtime. As the battery recharges above 50% the Lumin Smart Panel will re-enable Optional Circuits.


*Note that the 50% setting is the default option at which Optional Circuits shed. You can edit each Optional Circuit to shed at your desired percentages on the Lumin app's Smart Power Mode screen. For more information on battery state of charge settings, see:

SolarEdge

Compatible Batteries

SolarEdge battery integration will work with the SolarEdge Home Battery and LG batteries paired with a SolarEdge inverter. Note that the Lumin API integration does not work with SolarEdge's StorEdge systems.

API Access with SolarEdge

Lumin requires SolarEdge API access to receive state-of-charge information from the SolarEdge platform. Within the SolarEdge mobile app or web platform, an installer should generate a site API key following the process outlined by SolarEdge.


Note: The following procedure is only available in Admin (installer) SolarEdge accounts. System owners (homeowners) should contact their installer for assistance with this process.


In the SolarEdge platform:

1. Go to the Site Admin > Site Access > Access Control > API Access section.
The SolarEdge platform tab options. Included are: Dashboard, Layout, Analysis, Reports, Alerts and Admin.
2. Acknowledge reading and agreeing to the SolarEdge API Terms & Conditions.
3. Choose Generate API key.
4. Copy the key.
5. Select Save.

In the Lumin app:

1. Navigate to Battery Integrations via either option:
  • Option 1: Select the Menu icon > Location Settings > Battery Integrations.
  • Option 2: Select Smart Controls > Smart Power Mode > Add Battery.

API Security: The API Key provides access to information about your solar production, battery state of charge, and home energy consumption. Do not share the key publicly. Only share it privately with those with whom you wish to share this information. Lumin does not store API keys centrally and has no access to your private key, which is stored locally on the Lumin device.

Enphase IQ

API Access with Enphase

Lumin users wishing to add an Enphase IQ Battery integration must obtain the Enphase system ID following the process outlined below.


In the Lumin app:

1. Navigate to Battery Integrations via either option:
  • Option 1: Select the Menu icon > Location Settings > Battery Integrations.
  • Option 2: Select Smart Controls > Smart Power Mode > Add Battery.
2. Choose Add New Battery.The Battery Integrations screen of the Lumin mobile app.
3. Select Enphase from the list.The Select your Battery screen of the Lumin mobile app.
4. Choose OK when prompted with a redirect notice to Enphase.The Select Your Battery screen of the Lumin mobile app. A redirect prompt asks whether to redirect to Enphase.
5. Enter your Enphase login credentials.

Note that this login occurs on Enphase servers. Lumin does not have access to your Enphase login credentials.

Tesla Powerwall



Tesla Powerwall State-of-Charge-Based Control

Lumin users wishing to add Powerwall integration must obtain the Tesla Site ID following the process outlined below. Note that this process can only be performed on the mobile app. Do not attempt this via app.luminsmart.com.


In the Lumin app:

1. Navigate to Battery Integrations from the app Home screen via either option:
  • Option 1: Select the Menu icon > Location Settings > BatteryIntegrations.
  • Option 2: Select Smart Controls > Smart Power Mode > Add Battery.
2. Choose Add New Battery.The Battery Integrations screen of the Lumin mobile app.
3. Select Tesla Powerwall from the list.The Select your Battery screen of the Lumin mobile app. SolarEdge, Enphase, and Tesla Powerwall are listed.
4. Choose OK when prompted with a redirect notice to Tesla Powerwall.

Ensure the email address you use to log in to Tesla is the primary email address associated with your Powerwall. If the battery is not displayed on your Tesla app home screen, you are not logged into the primary account. See Tesla Powerwall State of Charge Integration Troubleshooting for more information.

5. Enter the primary email associated with your Tesla Powerwall account and select Next.
6. Enter the password for your Tesla Powerwall account and select Sign In.

8. After the Tesla sign-in process is complete, the app should autofill the Tesla Site ID. If the Site ID is visible, skip to Step 10.

If a blank Connection Status page is encountered, tap the app's back button once to revisit the main battery integration page. Proceed to Step 9.

9. Select Tesla Powerwall (again) and click OK on the pop-up.

Note that if Step 8 resulted in the Tesla Site ID autofilling, Step 9 should be skipped. Proceed to Step 10.

10. Verify that the Site ID has been automatically inserted and select Test Connection.The Connection Status screen of the Lumin mobile app for a Tesla Powerwall battery.

12. Select Set Up Energy Management once connected.The Connected! screen of the Lumin mobile app for battery integration.
The Smart Power Mode screen will display the Powerwall's state of charge. If desired, you can categorize your circuits and set the percentage you want your optional Circuits to shed at when grid power is unavailable. Tesla Powerwall State of Charge Integration Troubleshooting

The Site ID will not populate in Step 10 if a non-primary Tesla account was used to fetch the Site ID. If you encounter this issue:



Determine the Primary Email for a Tesla Account

To check which account is the primary email in Tesla:

1. Log in to the Tesla app.
2. Check if the Powerwall battery is displayed on the Tesla app's home screen.
  • If it is, select the three bars in the top right corner of this screen.
  • If it is not, log out and repeat Step 1 with the login credentials of another associated Tesla user (for example, a partner or family member).

4. Choose Personal Information.The account profile page of the Tesla app. Personal Information is the first option listed.

Follow the Powerwall integration instructions and use the primary email for Step 5 after you've redirected from the Lumin app to Tesla.



Remove Access from a Non-Primary Email Tesla Account

To remove access:

  1. Look for an email sent from Tesla confirming the addition of Lumin to the account and click the remove access link.
  2. Sign in to the Tesla page using the same incorrect (non-primary) login credentials.
  3. Uncheck the box granting permission and click Remove Access.
  4. Select Yes on the second page that appears and asks if you are sure to unlink the accounts.


Follow the Powerwall integration instructions again and ensure that you use the correct Tesla account with the primary email address.


FranklinWH

The Franklin Home Power battery integration begins by obtaining an IP address from the FranklinWH mobile app. Note, the following procedure can only be done with an installer account in the FranklinWH app. Homeowners should contact their installers for assistance. Installers can perform this procedure remotely; they do not need to be at the home in order to follow the steps below. 

  1. Navigate to the homeowner's FranklinWH system.
  2. Using the dropdown in the upper right, choose Settings via Internet.
  3. At the upper right of the home screen, tap Settings.
  4. From the settings menu, select Modbus.
  5. In the expanded Modbus screen, move the slider to the right to enable SunSpec modbus.
  6. In the expanded Modbus screen copy the 10-digit IP address to a piece of paper. 

The remaining steps are completed using the Lumin mobile app. These steps are available to both homeowners and installers and can be performed onsite or remotely. 


  1. Navigate to the correct Lumin Smart Panel location. If you are a user of multiple locations, you can select the correct location with the dropdown menu at the upper right.
  2. Select Smart Controls at the bottom of the screen. 
  3. Ensure that Smart Power Mode is present in the Smart Controls screen. If you have more than one Lumin Smart Panel, ensure that you have an instance of Smart Power Mode for each. If you do not see Smart Power Mode, consult the support article on troubleshooting Smart Power Mode.
  4. Tap to expand Smart Power Mode and ensure it is enabled (slider needs to be green and to the right.
  5. Select Add Battery. On the battery integrations screen that follows, select Add New Battery.
  6. From the list of available battery integrations, select FranklinWH.
  7. In the Franklin WH screen, enter the 10-digit IP address gathered from the FranklinWH app.
      
     



EG4 


EG4 battery integration allows the Lumin Smart Panel to manage circuits according to the battery’s state of charge. As the battery discharges, the Lumin Smart Panel will disable Optional Circuits to increase battery runtime. As the battery recharges, the Lumin Smart Panel will re-enable Optional Circuits. 

 

Note: The default threshold for disabling/enabling a circuit is 50% state of charge. You can customize each Optional Circuit to shed/reenable at whatever percentage you desire via the Lumin app. For more information, see: What is Smart Power Mode? 

 

Lumin requires EG4 API access in order to receive state-of-charge information from the EG4 platform. The only information necessary to create API access between the two platforms is the EG4 inverter serial number. There are three ways to obtain the inverter serial number:


Method 1: Use the EG4 web platform: 1. Login to the EG4 Monitor Center user                  account: monitor.eg4electronics.com/
WManage/web/login

2. If you are a user of multiple stations, select the corresponding station (EG4 installation) using the leftmost dropdown menu. 

3. Make note of the inverter's serial number in the rightmost dropdown menu.  

Method 2: Using the EG4 Monitor App on a Mobile Device1. Login to the user account on the mobile app.

2.  If you are a user of multiple stations, select the corresponding station (EG4 installation) using the leftmost dropdown menu.

3. Locate the serial number on the right-hand side of the menu.
Method 3: Gathering information from the side of the inverter

The serial number can be taken directly from the inverter. Location of the S/N will differ depending on inverter model.

EG4 Integration Lumin Smart app procedure

Once the serial number has been obtained, follow these steps in the Lumin Smart mobile app:

1. Navigate to Battery Integrations from the app Home screen via either option:
         Option 1: Select the Menu icon > Location Settings > Battery Integrations.

         Option 2: Select Smart Controls > Smart Power Mode > Add Battery.


2. Choose Add New Battery
3. Select EG4 from the list
4. Enter the EG4 inverter serial number and              select Test Connection.
