Smart Power Mode/Off-Grid Mode and Grid Detection Circuit Overview

Smart Power Mode/Off-Grid Mode is one of the most powerful features of the Lumin Smart Panel. It protects battery storage by shedding unprotected loads milliseconds after a grid outage is detected.

In order for Smart Power Mode/Off-Grid Mode to appear within the Lumin app, the Lumin Grid Detection Circuit (GDC) must be installed and connected to a point in the electrical system that is not backed up by the battery storage system. This circuit sends a signal to the Lumin Smart Panel to activate Smart Power Mode/Off-Grid Mode when no voltage is detected on the circuit, so it must be connected to wiring that will be de-powered when a grid outage occurs.

Documentation for installing the GDC can be found in the following article:

Enabling Smart Power Mode/Off-Grid Mode

Once the GDC circuit is installed, the user will be able to interact with Smart Power Mode/Off-Grid Mode in the Lumin app in the following manner:

4. Once Smart Power Mode/Off-Grid Mode is enabled, select circuits that will be protected in a grid outage.
  • Protected circuits are those that will not be shed. Do not protect any loads you wish to shed when a loss of grid power occurs.
